최근 들어 우리의 주요 수출시장인 미국과의 FTA에 대한 논의가 본격화될 가능성이 높아지고 있다. 특히 그간 영화시장 개방문제와 함께 한·미 FTA의 장애요인으로 작용해오던 농업부문에서 향후 10년간 개방이 가속화될 것으로 예상될 뿐 아니라 고령농의 자연은퇴 진전과 선진국형 사회보장지출에 의한 농가소득 지원 가능성 증대가 전망되면서, 한·미 FTA의 실현가능성은 한층 높아지고 있다. (생략)

세계 각국은 FTA추진을 위한 다방면의 노력을 하고 있다. 아시아 경제권이 서서히 통합되어 가고 있고, 중국의 고도성장으로 인한 경제 추격이 가해지고 있는 현 시점에, 중국과의 FTA를 대비한 국내산업보호 및 육성이 시급하다. 따라서 본 보고서는 중국과의 협동연구 1차 과제로서, 한국과 중국의 FTA체결 시 발생할 거시경제적인 효과를 중심으로 분석하는 동시에 대중 FTA를 대비하여 한국경제가 준비해야 할 것이 무엇인지를 제시하고 있다. GTAP모형을 이용한 CGE분석과 중력모형에 기반한 외국인직접투자(FDI)분석을 통하여 거시적인 효과를 분석하고 있다. (생략)
