오늘날 격변하는 세계 속 불확실성에 직면한 한국은 어떠한 위치를 선점해야 할지 전략적으로 고민해야할 것이다. 이에 본 보고서는 미중 통상갈등, 빠른 속도의 기술혁신과 상용화로 인한 과제와 기회, 중국의 고속 발전 등 한국이 직면하고 있는 3가지 경제적/전략지정학적 도전 과제와 이에 따른 대응 방안에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 이들 도전과제는 상호 밀접한 연관성을 지니고 있다. 미중 통상 갈등은 글로벌 경제를 이끌고 있는 미국과 신흥 강자로 부상한 중국 간의 기술 패권 경쟁으로 대변될 수 있기 때문이다. 특히 한국의 최대 교역 국가인 중국과 미국 간의 경쟁은 한국에 시사하는 바가 크다고 볼 수 있다. 본 보고서의 첫번째 부분은 전반적인 배경 설명과 도전 과제들에 대해 다루고 있으며 두번째 부분은 한국이 직면하고 있는 과제들에 대응하기 위한 경쟁력 및 유연성 증진을 위해 대내외적으로 고려할 수 있는 전략들에 대해 논하고 있다.
