The first summit was held in Seattle, USA, in 1993, where they adopted a broad vision of regional free trade and investment.At the second summit in Bogor, Indonesia, in 1994, APEC concluded with the APEC Economic Leaders' Declaration of Common Resolve with the goal of free and open trade and investment by 2020. It is expected that the Osaka summit, which adopted open regionalism as a fundamental rule, will settle more concrete action plans for implementation of complete trade liberalization.
APEC adopted the principle of open regionalism, namely, regional integration without trade discrimination against other economies. This open regionalism contrasts sharply with the approach taken in most regional cooperation agreement including the European Union (EU) and North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Following the launching of the World Trade Organization (WTO), APEC is expected to play a leading role in intra-regional economic cooperation and the creation of a new world economic order based on the multilateral trading system. -

This report focuses on the structural features of China's market, especially its entry barriers, analyzing the market by product, income level and region. This paper will also look at how entry barriers put in place by the central government and local governments can be lowered to promote an advance into China's market.
The Chinese government has been gradually relaxing its restrictions on imports and retail distribution. Moreover, its latent purchasing power is expected to be realized on a gradual basis, serving as an opportunity for China to accelerate the process of opening its economy to globalization.
Barriers to trade and an inflexible distribution mechanism will be obstacles to foreign investment, and competition between foreign investors has escalated since a market economy was introduced in 1992. -

The purpose of this paper summarizes as follow. First, it observes the current state of Japanese FDI in China based on previous studies and related data.
Second, it investigates comprehensive performance of Japanese investment companies. Third, it analyzes the results of Japanese overseas direct investment microscopically by comparing the data of 1992 with that of 1994.
Accordingly, this paper will propose several desirable strategies and policy implications for Korean firms' future overseas investment. -
