This paper analyzes the background and evolution of the U.S. trade policies after the war and takes a variety of views on its role in global economic order and medium-and long-term trends in U.S. trade policies. In this regard, the paper makes some policy recommendations for Korea-U.S. trade relationsThe composition of this study is as follows. Section II reviews the basis and background of the U.S. trade policies after the war. Section III examines the political tasks faced due to the changes in the internal and external economic environment in the 1990s. Through such outlooks, some strategies and directions for trade in the U.S. government are expected. In addition, Section IV forecasts the priority of the U.S regional trade policymaking process in accordance with the changes in the global economic order. Section V discusses future changes in the trade relationship between Korea and the U.S. and possible countermeasures for Korea.
