This paper is organized as follows. Section II explains the characteristics, objectives, activities and obligatory duties as a member country of OECD. Section III introduces Japan's entry to the OECD. Section IV examines the current liberalization in trade, foreign exchange rate, current invisible operations and capital movement liberalization of the Korean economy and analyzes the additional items for the liberalization by comparing OECD rules. Section V investigates a degree of the maturity in the Korean economy and condition precedents for OECD entry, its advantages and disadvantages, and discusses the strategy for OECD entry. Finally, Section VI contains a summary and conclusion. -

Socialist countries have recently undergone a sudden change in political, economic and social reform due to the spread of Gorbachev's perestroika policy. This is expected to affect Korea's diplomatic policy toward socialist countries including the Soviet Union, China, East European countries and North Korea. This seminar provided perspectives for development of relations between Korea and Socialist countries and suggested perspectives of economic and social integration after German unification. -

This paper is organized as follows. Section II examines the characteristics of the exchange rate system, focusing on the international balance of payments and the management of currency. Section III analyzes the exchange rate fluctuations under different systems using statistical analysis, time series analysis and correlation analysis. Section IV estimates how an observational error of the exchange rate fluctuations according to the change of their system has affected corporate decision-making processes. Section V reveals how corporations have taken some measures to avoid exchange rate risk. In addition, it finds some points to be further improved for the Korean government's exchange rate system and suggests institutional devices for the management of exchange risk. Summary and policy implications are provided in Section VI. -

To do so, this paper reviews the concept of IPR (part II) and examines the adoption background of the GATT agenda (part III). It summarizes the outstanding issues by group, sector and country of the Uruguay Round of the GATT (part IV).
Based on this, this paper analyzes the economic meaning of protecting IPR and negotiable strategy of selected countries (part V). Finally, this paper makes some policy recommendations for Korea to take as countermeasures for IPR. -

Thus, the result of UR will affect the Korean economy substantially, which is the 10th largest nation in trade volume. From a practical standpoint, with the participation of many distinguished scholars and experts, this seminar re-illuminated the meaning and perspective of UR negotiations and discussed important issues such as service, textiles and clothing, TRIPs and agriculture. In addition, it offered a forum to deliberate on Korea's negotiation strategy for the UR negotiations.

This paper is organized as follows. Section II presents the content and processes of EC 1992 and predicts the likely economic effect of EC integration.
Section III points out trade barriers, especially for Asia, by introducing EC intra-preferential trade agreements and comparing those of non-EC advanced countries. Section IV analyzes how EC 1992 affects countries in other regions and predicts the post-1992 direction of EC trade policies. Section V analyzes the cause of Korea's trade friction with the EC and suggests some countermeasures for making inroads into the EC market. Summary and policy implications are provided in Section VI.
