Two research projects organized by the National Center for APEC Studies of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), on "ICT Development and Income Inequalities" and "Regulatory Similarity between APEC members and its impact on trade," drew attention at the 2022 APEC Study Centers Consortium Conference (ASCCC) held in Phuket, Thailand, from July 21 (Wed) to 22 (Thu).

The annual ASCCC is a venue for academic experts from the 21 APEC member countries to gather and discuss pending regional issues.

At the Conference, held both online and in person, Professor Seongman Moon of Jeonbuk National University and Professor Bo Young Choi of Kyungpook National University attended as representative experts for Korea and presented their research.

The conference was divided into eight sessions: prospects for the post-COVID-19 era, connectivity between countries, future technology, regional trade and investment issues, regional economic integration, digital security and fake news, global crisis joint response, and regional security issues.

The event was held to seek promising directions for cooperation at the APEC level, based on the premise that infectious diseases can occur at any time in the post-COVID-19 era.

Together with researchers selected through the APEC Study Series, KIEP has been participating in the conference every year to discover major APEC-related policy tasks and contribute to the formulation of policy alternatives.
