On July 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM, the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) collaborated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Brazil Society (KOBRAS) to convene the 12th Korea-Brazil Business Forum at the Council Chamber of the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI). This forum, organized in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Korean immigration to Brazil, aimed to share prospective visions and explore potential avenues for economic and business cooperation between the two nations during President Lula's third term in office.

The forum served as a gathering of experts from both countries, including President Heungchong Kim of KIEP, Vice President Moo Won Pyon of KOBRAS, Deputy Director-General Junho Choi of the Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Charge d'affaires a.i. Míriam Leitão of the Embassy of Brazil. They assessed the achievements of economic cooperation between the two countries and sought opportunities for collaboration in the evolving economic and business landscape.

In his opening remarks, President Heungchong Kim emphasized the significance of 2023 as the 60th anniversary of Korean immigration to Brazil and the beginning of President Lula's third term. President Kim expressed his hope for strengthened cooperation between Korea and Brazil in the process of rebuilding Brazil's economy and restoring its position in the international community under President Lula's leadership. He also expressed his desire for the forum to serve as a platform for exploring opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

The first session, titled "Significance of the 60th Anniversary of Korean Immigration in Brazil and Future Vision," was moderated by Professor Seung Yong Lee from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Deputy Minister Uallace Moreira Lima of the MDIC of Brazil delivered a keynote speech elucidating the "Achievements and Vision of Brazil-Korea Economic Cooperation," while Professor Kisu Kwon from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies presented on the subject of "Achievements and Vision of Korea-Brazil Economic Cooperation." Additionally, Advisor Kim Jae-soon of the Brazilian Association of Korean University Professors conducted a presentation centered around the "Significance and Prospects of the 60th Anniversary of Korean Immigration in Brazil."

The second session, entitled "Korea-Brazil Economic Cooperation in the Era of Lula 3.0 Government," was moderated by Associate Research Fellow Sungwoo Hong from KIEP. Senior Researcher Misook Park of KIEP delivered a presentation regarding "Economic Issues and Growth Forecast," while Professor André Roncaglia de Carvalho from UNIFESP presented on the "Key Economic Policies and Cooperation Opportunities of the 3rd Lula Government." Moreover, Socio Partner Daniel Keller de Almeida Almeida from UNA PARTNERS provided  analysis regarding the "Investment Outlook for the Brazilian Economy."
