The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held a visiting scholar’s seminar with Dr. Grzegorz Mazur from Poznan University of Economics and Business, Poland at the KIEP conference room in Sejong on June 13, 2023. Dr. Grzegorz Mazur has participated in the KIEP Visiting Scholars Program for one month. The seminar was organized to share results of research activity conducted over his visiting period, jointly with other researchers at KIEP.

Dr. Grzegorz Mazur presented his ongoing project, “Trade and Investment Cooperation between South Korea and the Visegrad Group”, in this seminar. Along with geographical advantages of V4 (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary) located in central Europe, V4 has advantages of access to the whole European market, relatively cheap workforce, well-qualified workforce and growing productivity, and numerous and diversified high-quality automotive suppliers. He also argued that new trade and investment opportunities will be highly influenced by transformation towards green and digital economy, so this policy agenda strongly shapes economic processes and the necessity of structural changes in V4’s economies, production and trade.

KIEP experts including Dr. Young-ook Jang, Head of Europe Team, Dr. Yoonjung KIM, Mr. Taehyun Oh, Ms. Hyun Jean Lee, and Ms. You Jin Lim from Europe Team, and Dr. Kyunghoon Kim from India and South Asia Team attended the seminar and discussed the findings covered in the presentation.
