On April 15, 2023, the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) organized the first KIEP-KAEA Workshop in Boulder, Colorado, USA, in collaboration with the Korea-America Economic Association (KAEA). The purpose of this event was to facilitate the exchange of policy and academic research in the field of economics. The workshop brought together KIEP research fellows and academic professors who presented and discussed relevant academic research.

President Heungchong Kim of KIEP co-chaired the event with Yoosoon Chang, an executive member of KAEA and a professor at Indiana University Bloomington, and Yoonseok Lee, a professor at Syracuse University.

Several KIEP speakers presented their research results at the workshop. These included Head Kyong Hyun Koo of the Trade and Investment Policy Team, Dr. Nam Seok Kim of the Southeast Asia and Oceania Team, Dr. Yaein Baek of the International Macroeconomics Team, Dr. Gee Young Oh of the Development Evaluation Team, and Dr. Sunghun Cho of the Economic Security Team.

KAEA speakers also participated in the workshop and presented their latest academic research findings. These included Dr. Jae W. Shim from the Federal Reserve Board, Professor Jungsik Hyun at HEC Montreal, Professor Minchul Yum at the University of Southampton, Professor Daisoon Kim at North Carolina State University, Professor Taeyoung Doh from the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Professor Il Myoung Hwang at the University of British Columbia, Professor Yoosoon Jang at Indiana University Bloomington, Professor Yoonseok Lee at Syracuse University, and Professor Kyoo il Kim at Michigan State University.
