On February 11, 2022 (Friday), the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held the "2022 Korea's Allied Economic Associations Annual Meeting" at Yonsei University in collaboration with the Korea International Economic Association (KIEA) under the theme of "Changes in the International Economic Environment and New Government Economic Policy Tasks.“

The 2022 Korea's Allied Economic Associations Annual Meeting, the largest academic conference in the field of economics, was held from February 10th to the 11th. The first plenary session dealt with the theme of "post-COVID-19 directions for development of the Korean economy," and the second plenary session discussed changes in the international economic environment and new economic policy tasks for the government.

At the forum, President Hong Kee Kim of the Korea International Economic Association (KIEA) gave an opening speech, and Secretary-General Se-hoon Lee of the Financial Services Commission (FSC) gave a congratulatory speech. Honorary professor In June Kim of the Department of Economics at Seoul National University gave a keynote speech as well.

President Heungchong Kim of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) presented on new policy tasks for international trade, and Professor Junho Ham at Yonsei University on currency and finance.

President Kim suggested that "K-trade for innovation, coexistence, inclusion and network expansion" is needed as a vision for Korea's new trade policy, in the face of a global turning point characterized by digital and green transformation and the retreat of globalization.

President Kim summarized the basic directions of the new trade policy as the 4Cs of Creativity, Coexistence, Connectivity, and Coherence, also suggesting the following five policy directions: (1) trade in technology and knowledge to enhance added value; (2) innovative digital trade leading digital transformation; (3) sustainable green trade in response to climate change; (4) co-prosperity and inclusive cooperation trade that coexists with the world; and (5) consistent trade policies closely related to the domestic economic environment and policy goals.

In the following panel discussion, hosted by Professor Kyung Soo Kim of Sungkyunkwan University, a comprehensive discussion was held on the presentations and discussions of the previous session, between Professor Jee-Hyeong Park at the Department of Economics at Seoul National University; Mr. Young-Woo Roh, head of the economics and finance section of Maeil Business News Korea; Professor Yeongseop Rhee of Seoul National University, and Professor Yongkul Won of the University of Seoul.
