The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) and the Institute of Economics Research (IER) of Korea University jointly held a symposium on October 15 on “The Changes in Macroeconomic Policy of Major Countries in the Post-Covid-19 Era and Korea's Response.”

This symposium was convened to understand the changes and expected effects of fiscal and monetary policies in major countries triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic and to discuss short-term and mid- to long-term policy responses after the crisis.

In his opening remarks, President Heungchong Kim of KIEP said, “The COVID-19 pandemic will act as a driving force to look back on and improve human lifestyles, as we enter an era of Great Transformation.” He also stressed the need to gather wisdom so that Korea can become a leading country without being left behind.

The symposium was attended by Heungchong Kim, President of KIEP; Sungjin Kang, Director of IER; Bokyeong Park, Former Economic Advisor to the President; Jinill Kim, Professor of Korea University; Hyunju Kang, Research Fellow of the Korea Capital Market Institute; Hyun-A Kim, Director of the Dept. of Fiscal Policy Research, Korea Institute of Public Finance, and other experts in the field.
