The 5th seminar of the NRC Carbon Neutral Research Group, hosted by the National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences (NRC) and organized by KIEP, was held on Thursday, September 23, under the theme of “Long-term Strategies to Respond to Climate Change in Major Worlds.”

Participants in the seminar looked at what policies each country should implement to achieve their respective carbon neutrality targets by 2050 and discussed ways to cooperate with the international community.

Jin-young Moon, Research Fellow of the KIEP, conducted a presentation under the theme of "International Climate Change Response and Implications" and stressed that international cooperation between developing and developed countries should be established so that carbon neutrality goals can be based on actual implementation plans, not declarative meanings.

Euy Seok Yang, Senior Research Fellow of the the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER), presented an analysis of changes in energy conversion policies in major countries and explained that clear goal-setting and social consensus must be premised to establish energy conversion policies.

The event was attended by KIEP President Heungchong Kim, NRC Chair Hae Gu Jung, KEI President Je Yong Yoon, Dr. Jin-young Moon of the KIEP, Dr. Euy Seok Yang of the KIER, Dr. Sang-Youp Lee of the KEI, and other related experts.
