The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held the Korea-Arab Future Cooperation Forum 2021 under the theme of “New Prospects of Korea-Arab Cooperation in the Post-COVID-19 Era” in joint with the Korea-Arab Society (KAS) on August 26, 2021.

Experts from various sectors, including Korean and Arab politics, economy, society and culture gathered to discuss the prospects and directions of future cooperation. They also shared their views on the strategic cooperation directions and practical tasks necessary for developing sustainable and future-oriented relationships.

In his opening remarks, KIEP President KIM Heungchong looked back on the cooperative relationship that Korea and Arab nations have built up in the midst of internal and external environmental changes. He stressed the need to discuss various future cooperation plans for energy development, industrial diversification, and overcoming the food crisis.

The forum was attended by Dr. KIM Heungchong, President of KIEP, H.E. Mr. MA Young-Sam, Secretary-General of Korea-Arab Society, H.E. Mr. Bader AL-AWADI, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Republic of Korea, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Korea, Dr. HAN Intaek, President of Jeju Peace Institute, H.E. Mr. KOH Kyung-sok, Director-General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Joseph A. KÉCHICHIAN, Senior Research Fellow of King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, and experts and specialists from the field.
