The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held a virtual seminar on "The 2021 G7 Summit: Agenda and Outcomes" on June 29, 2021. Kyong Lim Choi, Korea’s G20/G7 Sherpa and a Distinguished Fellow at KIEP, presided over the session and shared the major outcomes of the recent G7 Summit held in Cornwall, United Kingdom from June 11 to 13, with staff members of KIEP.

Ambassador Choi and an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea explained a wide range of pressing topics discussed during the G7 expanded meeting, spanning the areas of health, open societies and economy, climate change and the environment. The outcomes of the bilateral summits held with the EU, Germany, Australia, UK, and France were also explained, demonstrating Korea’s enhanced stature in the global community, its role as a bridge between advanced and developing countries, opportunities for Korea to lead in achieving carbon neutrality through climate change talks, expand its diplomatic horizons and promote cooperation for the peace process of the Korean Peninsula. In addition, the main contents of the G7 communique, the G7 Open Societies Statement, trends in discussions of digital tax within the G20 and OECD, the Build Back Better World (B3W) initiative, among other topics, were introduced as well.
