On June 13th, 2024, the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) and the Korea-America Economic Association (KAEA) held the 2024 KIEP-KAEA Workshop at the KIEP conference room in Sejong, South Korea. The event was designed to encourage exchanges between economic experts on overall economic policies and academic research.

The workshop began with opening remarks by Sungbae An, Vice President for External Affairs of KIEP, and welcoming remarks by Kwang Soo Cheong, President of KAEA. Professors from academic communities and employees of national research institutes attended the event, where various issues related to the global economy were discussed.

While the workshop was hosted by Gee Young Oh, Head of the Development Microeconomics Research Team at KIEP, speakers from KIEP, such as Kyunghoon Kim, Associate Research Fellow of the India and South Asia Team, Jiheum Yeon, Associate Research Fellow of the Trade and Investment Policy Team, Young Jun Lee, Associate Research Fellow of the North America and Europe Team, Weonhyeok Chung, Associate Research Fellow of the Development Microeconomics Research Team, and Hongseok Choi, Associate Research Fellow of the international Finance Team, presented and discussed the findings of their respective research projects.

KAEA speakers, including Professor Sang-Wook Cho of the University of New South Wales, Dr. Joonkyu Choi of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Professor Sahn-wook Huh of the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, and Professor Seungki Hong of Purdue University, released findings on their research topics and discussed the results.
