Seminar on the Economic Effects of Russia's Invasion 1

On February 10th, the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held a seminar at the President Hotel Seoul with Deputy Governor Marja Nykänen and Head of Research Iikka Korhonen of the Bank of Finland (BOF) as speakers, discussing the "Economic Effects of Russia's Invasion and Sanctions on the European Union and Russia."

During the seminar, Deputy Governor Marja Nykänen presented an economic outlook for the euro area and discussed the financial system risks faced by the EU. Meanwhile, Head of Research Iikka Korhonen discussed the economic impacts of the Russian war and the economic sanctions imposed in response to it. Professor Kang Tae-Soo from KAIST was also present as a discussant in the seminar.

The seminar was attended by a wide range of experts, including Secretary Oskari Lampi from the Finnish Embassy in Korea; SungBae An, Director of the International Macroeconomics & Finance Dept. at KIEP; and Hyo Sang Kim, Head of the International Finance Team at KIEP. Other participants from KIEP included Dr. Young Sik Jeong, Dr. Yaein Baek, Dr. Yoonjung Kim, Dr. Sunghun Cho, Dr. Jiwon Park, Principal Researcher Taehyun Oh, Senior Researcher Jiyoung Min, and Researcher Cho Rong Kim, who shared their opinions and insights.
