Asian Economic Panel (AEP) 1

The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held a seminar titled "Asian Economic Panel (AEP)" at the President Hotel Brahms Hall in Seoul from October 26 (Wed) to 27 (Thu).

The Asian Economic Panel is a joint economic panel operated by the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) of Columbia University, the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). It helps to form a network of researchers discussing major economic issues in Asia and research pending issues and plays a function and role in publishing their research results in the journal Asian Economic Papers.

The Asian Economic Panel has held three international seminars annually with scholars from the United States, Europe, and Asia. It was suspended for the past three years due to the spread of COVID-19 and resumed in July, starting with a seminar in Helsinki, Finland, and the second seminar in 2022 was held in Seoul.

A total of 12 papers were published, starting with Professor Soohyung Lee's Papers on the Effects of Long Commute Time on Workers' Health: Evidence from a Large-scale Place-based Policy at Seoul National University. A, b, and c attended and held in-depth discussions.

More than 30 prominent economists from home and abroad, including Director Sungbae An of KIEP, UN SDSN's Asia Vice President Wing Thye Woo, ERIA's chief economist Fukunari Kimura, Professor Bhanupong Nidhiprabha of Thammasat University, Professor Kwan-ho Shin of Seoul University, Professor Jung-soo Park of Sogang University attended this seminar to discuss various economic issues.
