The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held a joint seminar with the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade (KIET), Korea Institute of Intellectual Property (KIIP), and Korean Security Agency of Trade and Industry (KOSTI) ‒ all research institutes engaged in research regarding issues of economic security, a concept which has rapidly rose in importance ‒ at the COEX Conference Room 402 on June 2nd.

Held under the title of “Issues of Economic Security and Response Measures to Promote Industrial Competitiveness and Supply Chains,” the participating institutes shared their findings on the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), reorganization of global supply chains, international export control measures, and tech security and secret patents, followed by panel discussions between experts in related fields.

Heungchong Kim, the president of KIEP, said in his welcoming speech, "The international community is increasingly forming blocs based on trust, and the importance of economic security is growing due to structural factors such as competition for technological hegemony."
