In 2020, when the world faced a pandemic, the 2020 Global Korea Forum was held under the theme of "Korea, a leading country contributing to world peace, prosperity, and sustainable development." It was an occasion to share the best examples of international cooperation by Republic of Korea to combat the crisis and to seek the visions and strategies for Korea to advance to a world-leading country.

In 2021, the Global Korea Forum was held as a flagship event of the International Development Cooperation Week, which was designated to commemorate the year when Korea turned from a recipient country to a donor country. The event under the theme of "International Development Cooperation and the Role of Korea in the Era of COVID-19 and Climate Crisis" was intended to explore Korea's role in helping the international community in a serious crisis.

From November 24 to 25 this year, the 2022 Global Korea Forum was held under the theme of "International and Development Cooperation for Freedom, Peace, and Prosperity,” hosted by the National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences (NRC) and organized by the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP). The 14 organizations worked together to explore the vision and strategies for Korea's role and responsibility as a global hub for international cooperation.

Senior officials from governments and international organizations, distinguished scholars and field experts from public and private institutions, domestic and foreign, gathered to discuss international development cooperation for peaceful and sustainable development of the world community.
