Since the Asian Financial Crisis, ASEAN has kept accelerating the regional integration process to achieve a single production base to cope with economic crises, and it's still attempting various measures such as AFTA, AIA, AICO, intellectual property protections, and other plans to magnify the benefits of market integration. With a total population of 574 million and a combined GDP of almost US$1 trillion, ASEAN gets more attention as a major emerging market with its rapid growth, and its strategic value shows rapid growth as a group of post-BRIC economies.
