Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) and the Export-Import Bank of Korea have organized a symposium on Financing Plans for the Development of Northeast Asia at the Seoul Shilla Hotel on May 19th (Wednesday), 2004, with support from The Presidential Committee on Northeast Asian Business Hub, The Federation of Korean Industries and Money Today. It is my great pleasure to invite you to this coming event.

For the next 10-20 years, there will be enormous demand for infrastructure - therefore the financing for infrasture investment will be the key for the development of Northeast Asia. Moreover, establishing infrastructure is closely related to the national agenda for building a Northeast Asian Business Hub, as
proposed by President Roh Moo-hyun’s Participatory Government. As such, the Symposium will provide
a forum for public and private financing initiatives for the development of
Northeast Asia.

We invite all of you to join us in holding discussions and sharing ideas with a wide range of
