Expansion of FTAs and A New Road for Northeast Asian Economic Cooperation

  • Hit2,632
A Word of Invitation

A month has already passed by since the beginning of year 2004, which started filled with so much hope.
During the last year, our economy records almost 20% increase in exports with $1.5 billion dollars in trade
surplus. It once again exemplifies the fact that the fate of our economy critically depends upon international trade. It also strongly calls for our need of economic cooperation with northeast Asian countries for our survivalbetween the nutcracker made by China, a fast-growing future economic super power, and Japan, a current economic super power recovering from the long lasting recession. For this reason, this years theme of the International Academic Seminar will be "Expansion of FTAs and A New Road for Northeast Asian Economic Cooperation". It will provide a forum in which economists from universities and research institutes discuss the FTAs among Korea, Japan, and China, the first step of northeast Asian economic cooperation, and other closely related subjects. We look forward to seeing you.
