Chinese Minister-Counsellor to Korea Pays Visit to KIEP

Gu Jinsheng (谷金生), Minister-Counsellor of Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office under the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Korea, visited the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) on June 3rd to meet with KIEP President Heungchong Kim and discuss the future direction of economic cooperation between Korea and China together with KIEP experts.
President Kim stated that the two countries should conclude the Korea-China FTA follow-up negotiations for the service and investment sectors to create a favorable environment for economic cooperation and take another leap forward. He also stressed the necessity of promoting trade and investment within the region through the China-Japan-Korea FTA, raising the need to expand cooperation between the two countries in the fourth industrial revolution era.
Minister-Counsellor Gu Jinsheng highly valued the development of Korea-China economic exchanges and cooperation over the past 29 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992, and expressed his hopes to expand discussions on future Korea-China economic cooperation next year, the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
