KIEP Holds Inaugural Korea-Europe & You (KEY) Forum to Strengthen Korea-Europe Cooperation 2

The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held the inaugural forum for the Korea-Europe & You (KEY), a new think tank focused on Korea-Europe issues, on January 19 (Thursday) at 3 p.m. (local time) at the Korean Cultural Center in Paris, France, along with ESSEC Business School, Samsung France, Korea R&D Industry Association (RNDIA) and Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

KEY is the first think tank seeking to address today’s and tomorrow’s challenges by bringing together European and South Korean approaches.

KEY builds and coordinates ideas and concrete initiatives between Korea and Europe, and is a collaborative project that includes leaders and experts from economic, public policy, academic and cultural areas, with a special focus on the next generation.

KIEP is participating in KEY as a founding organization member.

The KEY inaugural forum consisted of three round tables under the theme of "What stakes in innovation today and tomorrow?", "What future for Korea-Europe cooperation?" and "What are the new soft power trends?" In-depth discussions were held on each topic with economic and public policy experts and entrepreneurs from Korea and France.

President Heungchong Kim emphasized that KIEP has been promoting network strengthening projects with advanced economies and was the first to launch network strengthening efforts between Korea and France with the aim of promoting links with Europe.

President Kim also explained that KIEP will go beyond exchanges between think tanks and actively participate in KEY with experts in various fields, such as politicians and businessmen, to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with advanced economies.

Meanwhile, KIEP has been actively promoting efforts to build overseas networks in response to the rapidly changing global economy.

KIEP opened an overseas office in Delhi, India, in November 2022, 27 years after opening its Beijing office in 1995, and is currently expanding and strengthening its research cooperation network in Europe.
