Ambassador of Mongolia to the Republic of Korea Namsrai Erdenetuya visited the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) to meet with KIEP President Heungchong Kim and Dr. Joungho Park, Director of the New Northern Policy Department, and discuss a variety of issues, including energy utilization, COVID-19 response, and plans to vitalize mutual economic cooperation.

Ambassador Erdenetuya introduced VISION-2050, Mongolia’s long-term development policy, and explained the nation’s resource development plan to improve the current coal-centered energy structure and utilize various energy sources such as natural gas and hydroelectric power. She also expressed high expectations for revitalizing economic cooperation with its “third neighbor,” Korea, mentioning that economic activities and international aviation will resume soon thanks to the rapid progress of COVID-19 vaccination in Mongolia.

President Heungchong Kim stressed that cooperation between Korea and Mongolia is very important in the Northeast Asia region, and expressed his hopes for active exchanges between think tanks of the two countries in the future.
