The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held a Seminar on “Sharing 2020 Cooperative Research Outcomes of New Southern Areas” at the President Hotel in Seoul on Feb. 26, 2021.

Experts gathered to share their research outcomes and discuss issues such as: aspects of climate change and the environment within the New Southern Policy, building smart cities, development of coexisting agricultural and fishing villages and urban infrastructure, enhancing ODA performance and effectiveness, discovering new K-wave contents, and the establishment of a financial cooperation center. Participants also emphasized the importance of public–private partnership.

Since 2019, KIEP has been promoting cooperative research with NRC-affiliated research institutes, area studies research societies, and university-affiliated research institutes to support the government’s New Southern Policy.
