Chairperson Dong Cheon Shin of NRC Pays Visit to KIEP

On December 2nd, 2024, Chairperson Dong Cheon Shin of the National Research Council for Economics, Humanities, and Social Sciences (NRC) visited the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) to meet with President Siwook Lee of KIEP and other experts including Vice President Chankwon Bae, Vice President Sungbae An, Executive Director Jinyoung Moon, and Executive Director Sungil Kang, and to consider the opinions of the policy research community.

Together with officials from the NRC, Chairman Shin toured the institute (from the 1st to 4th floors) located in Sejong National Research Complex to examine the working environment of KIEP and discussed with the researchers about recent global economic issues and ways to develop policy research by region and sector.

Other items of discussion were the main tasks of KIEP, recent economic issues, and current concerns by region and field. The participants also discussed the direction of sustainable development through stronger communication between the research council and KIEP going forward.
