□ Invitation

• The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) invites members of the press and media to join the international seminar, “The 32nd Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) General Meeting: Trade, AI, and Demographics in a Shifting Global Landscape.” PECC is a tripartite regional forum, serving as the official observer and leading think tank of APEC. In collaboration with The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), renowned Global and Korean specialists from PECC, academia, and research institutes will present their findings and views on topics such as Global Trade Landscape and World Economy, AI and Advanced Technologies, Demographic Change, and The Way Forward for Asia-Pacific Regional Cooperation.

In particular, James Robinson, the 2024 Nobel Memorial Prize laureate in Economic Sciences, will deliver a keynote address on “The Global Economic Landscape and Asia-Pacific Regional Economic Cooperation Pathway.” In addition, Mr. Han-koo Yeo, Trade Minister of Republic of Korea, will be delivering a plenary speech, offering the government’s perspective on trade-related issues in the Asia-Pacific region and the role of APEC in shaping a sustainable and resilient global trade environment.

• Dr. Siwook Lee, President of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), will deliver his opening remarks, followed by pre-recorded remarks from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, welcoming remarks from Amb. Chang-beom Kim, Executive Vice Chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), as well as congratulatory remarks from Dr. Richard Cantor, Co-Chair of PECC.

• Dr. Chul Chung, President of KERI and CRO of FKI, will chair a special session that features the keynote address by Professor James Robinson on “The Global Economic Landscape and Asia-Pacific Regional Economic Cooperation Pathway.”

• Mr. Robin Harding, Asia Editor at the Financial Times, will deliver a keynote speech in Session 1. Dr. Craig Emerson, former Minister for Trade and Competitiveness of Australia, and Amb. Jonathan T. Fried, former G20 Sherpa of Canada, will join as panelists.

• Dr. Atoosa Kasirzadeh, Professor at Carnegie Mellon University and former Machine Learning Engineering Lead, will deliver a keynote speech in Session 2. Dr. Chihoon Lee, Executive Vice President and Chief AI Officer at CJ, and Dr. Kai-Cheng Hsu, President and Chief Medical Officer at Acer Medical, will also participate as panelists.

• Dr. Chien-Yi Chang, Chair of Chinese Taipei PECC (CTPECC) and President of the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (TIER), will moderate Session 3 and Prof. Cai Fang, Academician at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), will deliver a keynote speech.

• Dr. Narongchai Akrasanee, Chair of Thailand PECC (TNCPEC) and former Minister of Commerce and Energy of Thailand, will chair Session 4, which will address the way forward for Asia-Pacific regional cooperation.
