On May 9, the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research (AEI) hosted a lecture on China’s economic performance and obstacles to its further development. Dwight Perkins, Harold Hitchings Burbank Professor of Political Economy at Harvard University, gave a speech stating that economic growth in China has stimulated changes in its politics and civil society, and concluded that China will continue to grow if the government promotes reforms to overcome existing obstacles and that the United States can help China’s reform.
